Micralite Makes a Name for Itself in the States

The British Invasion continues this week because I want to introduce you to another (cue British accent) brilliant stroller from the UK: the Micralite Toro. Micralite is well known in the UK but not as well known here in the States.

Yet.

If you dream of being the mom on the block with the mysterious, stylish stroller that none of the other mom's recognize, this could be the one for you!

Micralite has a vaguely Bugaboo sort of look to it thanks to its ergonomic design and aluminum frame but there's something distinctly different about it. One feature that sets it apart is its wheels. The Micralite has two larger, air-filled tires in the back and two smaller tires in the front. This may look unusual, but it makes the stroller very easy to manuever. This stroller is also--as the name suggests--very lightweight, which makes it a great option for urban parents who might have to lug it up and down the stairs to their apartment(something that's not so easily accomplished with a Bugaboo). A uniquely easy one-handed fold makes this stroller even more attractive to city-dwellers who might need to sqeeze into an elevator and jump in a taxi at a moment's notice.

There are two options for making the stroller usable from birth. Micralite has added a Newborn Carrycot, which snaps right into the Toro frame. You can use the Carrycot until your baby reaches 20 lbs and then switch to the stroller seat, which will accomodate your child up to 40 lbs. If purchasing the Carrycot seems uneccessary, just get the car seat adaptor, which works with either Graco or Maxi-Cosi car seats.

Ciaran at Celebrity Baby Blog recently shared her thoughts on the Toro. She reports that celebrities like Halle Berry, Trista Sutter, and Amy Poehler all have Micralite Toros. This stroller may still be a relative unknown on this side of the pond...but not for long.
